Revere Plastics Systems LLC, a major injection molder based in Novi., Mich., is closing its plant in Auburn, Ala.
The company announced the news to employees on Nov. 14.
"After evaluating how we can best grow the company and taking a look at our footprint, we had to make this decision based on the best layout for Revere overall," Doug Drummond, vice president of sales & marketing, said in an interview with Plastics News.
"This is not a decision that we took lightly. We really value the team members and all the work that they have done for the company the past few years," Drummond said.
Revere acquired the Auburn plant from Nashotah, Wis.-based automotive injection molder Techniplas LLC in June 2020. Drummond said the Auburn plant currently has 47 full-time employees and nine temporary workers.
The plant will close at the end of 2024. Workers will receive placement assistance and have been offered positions at other Revere factories.
After the closure, Revere will have seven molding plants: Ankeny, Iowa; McPherson, Kan.; Clyde, Ohio; Fraser, Mich.; Jeffersonville, Ind.; Brampton, Ontario; and Saltillo, Mexico.
Last year Revere closed a plant in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Revere ranks No. 41 in Plastics News' list of North American injection molders with sales of $258 million.
Revere, which is based in Novi, has been owned by French private equity firm Ardian since 2017. Historically a major supplier to the appliance market, Revere has been diversifying its customer base into other markets including automotive, agriculture and power sports.
Drummond said the company expects to win business in those markets from new and existing customers in 2025.
