Royce’s Daood leads marketing, business development efforts

Peter Daood was born in Secaucus, N.J., and graduated from the City University of New York's John Jay College, where he studied criminal justice with minors in law and police studies.

He joined specialty plastics chemicals maker Royce Global in East Rutherford, N.J., where he worked in inside sales, then business development. He is now marketing and business development manager.

"Working for Royce was my first and only job in the plastics industry," Daood, 30, said in his Rising Stars survey. "I was interested in this industry because I learned of all the opportunities for a young individual in this industry. The plastics industry has a lot of growth opportunities on the commercial side as well as technical sales."

At Royce, he leads the company's marketing efforts and new business development as it continues to grow.

Daood said his greatest achievement has been growing his "book of business through networking at industry events and building relationships with customers."

He is a member of the Plastics Industry Association, Future Leaders in Plastics, Society of Plastics Engineers and International Erosion Control Association. Daood has also attended NPE2018 and Antec as well as Plastics Industry Association board meetings and events for the Rigid Packaging Group and Future Leaders in Plastics.

His current challenge is "dealing with Chinese tariffs and the effect they have on our raw material pricing and supply."

Daood said he is surprised by the diversity of the industry and many ways plastics are used in everyday lives. He is interested in new processes such as "3D printing and the use of robotics in manufacturing sites."

"Work hard and be open minded" is the advice he would give to someone considering a career in the plastics industry.

"The industry is clean, diverse, and there are so many opportunities to grow whether it be in commercial, technical or operations," he said.

A.J. Royce IV, president of Royce, nominated Daood for Rising Stars.

"My boss, A.J. Royce IV, is my mentor," Daood said in his own survey. "He is a young president of a successful company, a great businessman and father to his two sons."

Daood said he would like to work his way up the management ladder and that he sees himself retiring at Royce.
