Orlando, Fla. — Compounds based on engineering resins and sustainable materials were in the spotlight for RTP Co. at NPE2024.
"A lot of our customers have sustainability objectives," said Margaret Cox, marketing communications director. "Almost everything we do is custom, so we can supply them with what they need."
RTP's All-Polymeric Wear Alloy (APWA) compounds can replace PTFE in many applications, she added. APWA compounds can be based on nylon 6/6, polycarbonate, acetal, PBT or PC/ABS. Applications include gears and other industrial parts.
Sustainable options from RTP include nylon and polypropylene compounds with post-industrial recycled content. The firm also offers compounds based on biosourced materials.
RTP's RTPrene-brand thermoplastic vulcanizate compounds offer durability, flexibility and chemical resistance. Applications include automotive weather seals and industrial parts such as hoses, seals and gaskets.
Long-glass fiber (LGF) compounds made by RTP are strong, impact-resistant solutions for replacing metal and reducing part weight. Officials said the firm's LGF formulations have a high degree of impact performance while providing good strength and stiffness.
Winona, Minn.-based RTP is a global compounder that operates more than 20 plants worldwide, making compounds based on more than 60 different engineering resin systems.
