Rubbermaid Commercial Products LLC has notified the Texas Workforce Commission that it will discontinue operations at its El Paso plant this year.
The Huntersville, N.C.-based company said it will lay off 64 workers: 38 around Nov. 14, 22 around Dec. 16 and four around Dec. 31.
Rubbermaid disclosed the information in a filing under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. There is no union at the plant, though all affected employees will receive either 60 days of wages and benefits in lieu of notice, 60 days' notice, or a combination of the two to comply with the act.
Rubbermaid provided no other details about the closing and did not respond to requests for more information.
The company, part of Newell Brands' Commercial Business, blow molds and injection molds cleaning products such as mops and trash containers for hospitals, offices, airports and restaurants.
