Selig Group is acquiring Manufacture Générale de Joints, a global supplier of foam liners based in France.
Naperville, Ill.-based Selig, which is owned by CC Industries, said MGJ's business fits in nicely with the company's existing operations.
"MGJ's team, products, markets and capabilities are extremely complementary to Selig and represent a significant growth opportunity for the combined organization. Our cultures are well-aligned," Selig CEO Steve Cassidy said in a statement.
MGJ has manufacturing sites in Chazay-d'Azergues, France; Drummondville, Quebec; and Kunming, China.
"This is a highly strategic combination, enabling us to provide a more comprehensive solutions offering for customers globally," said Stéphane Triquet, who becomes a vice president at Selig's European business. "Selig is an ideal long-term home for MGJ's employees and owner to support our operation in its next phase of growth."
Selig makes sealing and venting products for markets including beverage, pharmaceutical, health care, personal care and industrial. The company's business in Europe also includes laminates and flexible packaging for those segments.
This is the second acquisition in 2021 for Selig, which purchased Performance Systematix, a maker of container and packaging venting products, in early January.
Aside from the new MGJ locations, Selig also has manufacturing sites in Forrest, Ill.; Aurora, Ontario; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Slough, England, and Niederglatt, Switzerland.
