Sesotec GmbH, which makes metal detection and sorting systems for the plastics industry, has unveiled the Rapid Pro Sense 6 metal detector and the Flake Scan plastic material analysis system.
It's all part of the move to a circular economy, company officials said.
"Plastics manufacturers and processors are going to use more and more recyclates — first because they have to, second because the products are designed to be recyclable and third because it is appealing to do so from a price perspective," said Andreas Reckziegel, group director of the sales division for product inspection. "So manufacturers and processors need to make sure that the quality of the material they're processing is very high."
The Rapid Pro Sense 6 metal detector is equipped with a new reject mechanism designed for compounders that have frequent color changes or that make or process abrasive materials. The Flake Scan is a flake analysis system that is designed for laboratory use. Companies looking to process recycled resin can use Flake Scan to inspect incoming materials.
Also new from Sesotec: the ASM Quasar optical sorting system, which insures that plastic granules with black spots, for example, can be removed. The system checks for other parameters including surface, shape and size.
