Norcross, Ga. — Sica America Corp. is moving to a larger facility in Norcoss as it marks five years of selling downstream equipment for plastic pipes production in North America.
The subsidiary of Alfonsine, Italy-based Sica SpA added a machine demonstration area and gained space for additional spare parts storage at the new site about 15 minutes north of Atlanta.
Sica offers saws, bellers, slotting machines, threaders, bending machines, packaging machines, coilers and automation and ancillary equipment for pipe extruders.
The increased inventory will let Sica America reduce response time to customers in the U.S. and Canada. The site also will provide a new spare parts portal created to quickly identify what needs to be ordered. The portal has a database of Sica machines and interactive spare parts diagrams as well as manuals, drawings and link to request a parts quotation.
In addition, Sica North America recently hired technician Sam Gjorven, who has serviced and commissioned pipe machinery worldwide for 18 years. He is currently in Italy completing his training on Sica's full range of products. He will join Matt Mattiaccio, a 10-year Sica employee, and Orlando Martinez, Sica America's chief operating officer who has more than 23 years of experience in the plastics extrusion industry for the North and South American markets.
In a note to customers about the new facility in Georgia, Martinez says his team is ready to collaborate on pipe production projects, and show off their technology at the Orlando County Convention Center from May 17-21.
"We look forward to NPE 2021 in Orlando, FL, COVID permitting, to showcase our new technologies and machines in our stand," Martinez wrote.
