Simona America Group, a supplier of thermoplastic semi-finished parts, has announced an expansion of its facility in Archbald, Pa. This $23 million investment is to grow production capacity, have more space for inventory and enhance manufacturing.
The expansion is expected to be completed in early 2026 and add more than 80,000 square feet of space to the company's current facility. The company hopes to break ground within the next month or two.
"We're going to expand with additional extrusion lines and additional weld rod lines as well as some fabrication capabilities," said Valerie Glover, marketing manager at Simona.
Currently, Simona has two facilities in Ohio and one in Pennsylvania and the company serves multiple markets including semiconductors and chemical processing.
"We're going to be better able to serve our market in Pennsylvania, it is very strategically positioned for us in order to serve the majority of the country," Glover said. "We're also able to better serve our distribution partners as well as customers and end users."
Along with the expansion, the company plans to hire 25 employees within the manufacturing, shipping and logistics departments.
The new facility will have new sheet extrusion and weld rods lines and fabrication capabilities for Simona to make new products.
On the current Pennsylvania facility, Simona added over 30 solar panels in December 2024. Simona has been looking into alternative energy opportunities and recouping energy costs in production processes. The company has a goal of becoming net zero by 2050 and with the solar panels it expects to supply 15 percent of its electrical usage.
