Slovenian plastic packaging maker Sibo Group is setting up an injection molding plant and U.S. corporate headquarters in Virginia, state officials announced May 27.
The $2.6 million investment in Harrisonburg will create 24 jobs and will shorten lead times to the Americas for the tubes, containers and other packaging products the firm makes, the company and state officials said.
An announcement on the website for the Škofja Loka, Slovenia-based Sibo said the 12,000-square-foot facility will house injection presses from 80 to 240 metric tons.
Mat Zakotnik, CEO of the Sibo USA LLC subsidiary, said it's the company's first U.S. manufacturing plant.
Sibo's website said the family-owned company had 350 employees in 2020 and sales of more than 45 million euros ($54.9 million), with exports to 65 countries. The company began in 1967 as a maker of plastic closures for the cosmetics industry.
