Canadian pipe maker Soleno Inc. plans to complete construction of its first U.S. plant, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., within a few months.
As reported almost a year ago, Soleno expects the plant to create 35 jobs within two years, and as many as 50 all-told. In early March, the company told Plastics News it will conduct testing at the site in June and July and begin production in August.
The 48,000-square-foot plant will custom manufacture Soleno's new product line, Kustomflo large-diameter, high density polyethylene pipe for water management infrastructure. The company's markets include industrial, agriculture, natural resources and residential.
The facility will make Kustomflo pipe using the German Krah helical extrusion technology Soleno acquired in 2022. Soleno has an agreement to produce and distribute the pipe throughout Canada and across the East Coast of the United States, in diameters of 60 to 132 inches.
The family-owned company, based in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, said its $22 million investment in the new plant will include one extruder at first, with plans for a second. The 22-acre site can accommodate a 25,000-square-foot expansion, if needed.
Soleno's five business units employ more than 500. PN estimated Soleno's 2022 sales at $45 million, though the company did not confirm that figure.
