Easton Pa.-based sound insulation manufacturer Molded Acoustical Products of Easton Inc. is permanently closing after a sale of the company fell through.
MAP's headquarters will close Jan. 31 according to a notice posted to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry's website. The company will lay off 55 employees on Jan. 18, it said.
The company expects to close its Granger, Ind., plant between Feb. 8-22, laying off 114, a notice submitted to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development said. Employees of the facility do not have bumping rights.
MAP was "in the process of seeking a sale or capital which, if obtained, would have enabled it to avoid or postpone a closure and continue operations," the notice said.
"Unfortunately the sale process was not successful,"it added. "As a result of these unexpected events, the company has made the difficult decision to cease operations."
MAP did not immediately respond to questions from Plastics News.
