Sheet leader Spartech LLC plans to invest almost $2 million at a plant in Indiana.
Maryland Heights, Mo.-based-based Spartech will spend $1.8 million in manufacturing equipment to modernize and add efficiency to its Crawfordsville, Ind., plant, according to the Crawfordsville Journal Review.
The investment will help retain 87 full-time employees and create 10 new jobs, according to the article. Spartech will seek a tax abatement from the city for the project.
CEO Jim Elliott said in the article that the investment "includes the acquisition of a state-of-the-art piece of equipment which will bolster our production capacity and empower our teams to deliver superior products to our valued customers."
Spartech acquired the Crawfordsville plant in late 2021 when it bought sheet maker Crawford Industries LLC. At the time, officials said the plant operated 15 production lines.
Spartech ranked 20th in Plastics News' most recent ranking of North American film and sheet makers, with 2022 sales estimated at $500 million.
