SPE Foundation announces scholarship winners

    Danbury, Conn. — The Society of Plastics Engineers has named the 2020 winners of the scholarships administered as part of the SPE Foundation.

    The foundation awarded 57 scholarships to 45 students totaling over $126,000.

    The SPE Foundation supports the development of plastics professionals by funding quality educational programs, grants and scholarships.

    "Our scholarships are made possible through the generosity of individuals, SPE chapters and other organizations who believe in the value of supporting our future plastics workforce," said Eve Vitale, SPE Foundation's chief executive. "We are grateful for their contributions and impact on these students."

    For information about supporting SPE scholarships, visit give.4spe.org. Applications for 2021 scholarships open Dec. 1, 2020 and can be found at 4spe.org/scholarships.

    Here are the scholarship winners:

    Lew Erwin Extrusion Division Scholarship — $5,000, to Tianran Chen, pursuing a Ph.D. in macromolecular science and engineering at Virginia Tech.

    Russell Gould Extrusion Division Scholarship — $2,500 to Camille Holman is a Pittsburg State Senior double majoring in plastics engineering technology and polymer chemistry.

    Russell Gould Extrusion Division Scholarship, Thermoforming Division Scholarship, Thermoplastic Elastomers Special Interest Group Scholarship — $5,000 to David Barrym a University of Massachusetts-Lowell senior majoring in plastics engineering.

    Russell Gould Extrusion Division Scholarship, Western Plastics Pioneers Scholarship — $4,500 awarded to Juliana Covarrubias, a Western Washington University senior majoring in plastics and composites engineering.

    Russell Gould Extrusion Division Scholarship, Injection Molding Division Scholarship — $5,250 for Samantha Thiessen, a Ferris State University junior majoring in plastics engineering technology.

    Ed Steward Extrusion Division Scholarship, Flexible Packaging Division Scholarship — $5,000 given to Wyatt McGraw, a Shawnee State University sophomore majoring in plastics engineering technology.

    Jordan Rotheiser Decorating and Assembly Division Scholarship, Thermoforming Division Scholarship, Polymer Modifier and Additives Division Scholarship — $4,500 awarded to Antonia Chin, a Kettering University senior majoring in chemical engineering.

    Jordan Rotheiser Decorating and Assembly Division Scholarship — $1,500 to Taylor Plekker, a Kettering University senior majoring in mechanical engineering.

    Thermoforming Division Scholarship — $2,500 for Laryssa Meyer, a University of Wisconsin-Stout senior majoring in plastics engineering.

    Thermoforming Division Scholarship, Polymer Modifier and Additives Division Scholarship — $2,000 to Lexington Peterson, a Pittsburg State University Senior double majoring in plastics engineering technology and polymer chemistry.

    Thermoforming Division Scholarship — $1,500 awarded to Sidney Trunzo, a Pennsylvania College of Technology Senior majoring in plastics and polymer engineering technologies.

    Flexible Packaging Division Scholarship — $2,500 to Kerry Candlen, a University of Massachusetts-Lowell senior majoring in plastics engineering.

    Flexible Packaging Division Scholarship — $2,500 for Nazar Ribalko, a Rochester Institute of Technology sophomore majoring in packaging science.

    Carrie Fox Solin Blow Molding Division Scholarship — $3,000 to Harrison Crone, a York College of Pennsylvania junior majoring in mechanical engineering.

    Willi Mueller Blow Molding Division Scholarship — $3,000 to Jordan Howell, a Kettering University senior double majoring in industrial engineering and applied mathematics.

    Thermoplastic Elastomers Special Interest Group — $1,000 for Chinmay Saraf, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in polymer science and engineering at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

    Thermoplastic Elastomers Special Interest Group, Polymer Modifier and Additives Division Scholarship — $2,000 to Siddhant Iyer of University of Massachusetts-Lowell, a senior majoring in plastics/polymer engineering.

    Harold Giles Composites Division Scholarship — $3,500 for Pritesh Yeole, pursuing a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

    Harold Giles Composites Division Scholarship — $3,500 to Molly Teece, a University of Massachusetts-Lowell senior majoring in plastics engineering.

    Polymer Modifier and Additives Division Scholarship — $2,000 for Ehsan Raee, pursuing a Ph.D. in polymer science at the University of Akron.

    Polymer Modifier and Additives Division Scholarship — $2,000 for Kony Chatterjee, pursuing a Ph.D. in fiber and polymer science at North Carolina State University.

    Polymer Modifier and Additives Division Scholarship, Automotive and Composites Division ACCE Scholarship — $4,500 to Jiaqi Yan, pursuing a Ph.D. in chemical engineering at North Carolina State University.

    Polymer Modifier and Additives Division Scholarship —$1,000 awarded to Clifton Herring, a University of Tennessee-Knoxville junior majoring in mechanical engineering.

    Irv Poston Detroit Section Scholarship, Automotive and Composites Division ACCE Scholarship — $4,500 to Alessandro Perego, pursuing a Ph.D. in polymer engineering at the University of Akron.

    Norm Kakarala Detroit Section Scholarship — $2,500 for Sophia Hagans, a University of Cincinnati sophomore majoring in chemical engineering.

    Robert G. Dailey Detroit Section Scholarship — $2,500 awarded to Justin Salyers, a Shawnee State University sophomore majoring in plastics engineering.

    Thomas E. Powers Detroit Section Scholarship — $2,500 to Kizazeal Forsyth, a University of Massachusetts-Lowell Senior majoring in Plastics Engineering.

    Salvatore J. Monte Thermoplastic Materials and Foams Division Scholarship, SPE Foundation Product Design & Development Division — Mid-Michigan Section Scholarship — $5,000 to Ashley Wisdom, a Kettering University senior majoring in chemical engineering.

    SPE Foundation Art Haas Scholarship — $2,500 for Stephen Shewan, a Ferris State University sophomore majoring in polymer and plastics engineering technology.

    SPE Foundation Carl Haas Scholarship — $2,500 to Derek Kepczynski, a Ferris State University sophomore majoring in polymer and plastics engineering technology.

    SPE Foundation Gail Bristol Scholarship — $3,000 to Elizabeth DeFazio, a Rutgers University Junior majoring in chemical engineering.

    SPE Foundation General Scholarship — $2,500 to Courtney Valmore, a Rose Hulman freshman majoring in chemical engineering.

    SPE Foundation General Scholarship — $2,500 to Hannah Duncan, a Penn State Erie junior majoring in plastics engineering technology

    SPE Foundation General Scholarship — $2,50 to Mackenzie Roach, a Virginia Tech junior majoring in chemical engineering.

    SPE Foundation General Scholarship — $2,500 to Martin Eichers, a North Dakota State University senior majoring in mechanical engineering.

    SPE Foundation General Scholarship — $2,500 for Marissa Torretti, a Penn State Erie senior majoring in plastics engineering technology.

    SPE Foundation General Scholarship — $1,000 to Masoud Razavi, pursuing a Ph.D. in polymer science at the University of Akron.

    SPE Foundation Ruth Neward Scholarship — $3,000 awarded to Madison Reed, a University of Massachusetts-Lowell senior majoring in plastics engineering.

    SPE Foundation Ted Neward Scholarship — $3,000 for Calvin Stephens, a University of California-Berkeley sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering.

    Automotive and Composites Division Dr. Jackie Rehkopf Scholarship — $2,500 to Wencai Li, pursuing a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at Louisiana State University.

    Automotive and Composites Division ACCE Scholarship — $2,000 for Sai Aditya Pradeep, pursuing a Ph.D. in automotive engineering (materials and manufacturing) at Clemson University.

    Automotive and Composites Division ACCE Scholarship — $2,000 to Nathaniel Blackman, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at Baylor University.

    Cleveland Section Scholarship — $1,500 to Edward Fluker, a Syracuse University freshman majoring in chemical engineering.

    Western Plastics Pioneers Scholarship — $2,000 to Allison Van Horn, an Oregon State University senior double majoring in mechanical/manufacturing engineering and business administration.

    Western Plastics Pioneers Scholarship — $2,000 to William Dayton, a University of California-Davis junior majoring in chemical engineering.
