Injection molding firm Strategy Plastics LLC has expanded in a move that's expected to create 81 new jobs.
The firm's new operations in Williamston, S.C., are already open, according to an Oct. 18 news release from the South Carolina Department of Commerce. The project represents an investment of more than $3.4 million, officials said in the release.
"After completing extensive due diligence on several potential new locations for our operations, we chose Anderson County because of their quick response, support and everything the county had to offer for both our company and employees," owner Chad Giles said.
"This transition … will allow Strategy Plastics LLC to continue to grow and achieve greater efficiency, along with diversify its current customer base," he added. "As a company that's proud to hire locally, this transition will have a positive impact on the local economy."
In addition to injection molding, Strategy also provides custom molding, engineering, project management, parts assembly, testing, dimensional analysis and off-shore tooling. The firm now operates 17 injection molding machines ranging from 35 to 720 tons at a 40,000-square-foot site.
Strategy has doubled in size since being acquired in 2013, according to the firm's website.
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster added in the release that expansions of companies already doing business in South Carolina "continue to be a driving force behind our state's strong and growing economy."
Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt also said in the release that South Carolina "has emerged as a leader in advanced manufacturing."
