Schwaig, Germany — Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery GmbH has named Siegfried Köhler as its new group chief sales officer, starting Oct. 1.
As a member of the management team, Köhler is tasked with the alignment of Sumitomo (SHI) Demag's international sales with automation and business development.
Köhler brings extensive knowledge of both injection molding and auxiliary equipment to the role, backed by many years of experience in sales management at various companies, Sumitomo officials said in an Aug. 26 news release. His previous experience includes stints at Wittmann Battenfeld and Piovan.
Köhler will work closely with CEO Gerd Liebig and will focus on strengthening the company's global sales network, the company said.
According to Liebig, Sumitomo (SHI) sales have increased by 50 percent in recent years.
"Accelerating cooperation and international alignment will be integral to our customers' future success. [His] experience and successful track record, combined with his passion, will help to deliver complete supply chain integration to maximize manufacturing efficiency," Liebig said.
Köhler will be based at the Schwaig office. He will attend K 2019, where Sumitomo (SHI) Demag will showcase a number of new partnerships in materials, sustainability, automation, in-mold decorating and traceability.
