Suwanee, Ga. — Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics North America (W3343) will unveil its latest all-electric press featuring enhanced injection unit capabilities geared for thin-wall and high-precision applications.
The SE130EV-S SHR features improved injection unit acceleration and deceleration, and it offers agility and reliability in repeatability, a company news release said, noting the SHR stands for super high response.
"With rapid fill times, the machine's ability to adjust fill rates swiftly based on resin viscosity variations ensures process stability, minimizing rejects and optimizing quality control," the release said.
The improvements were achieved with an ultrahigh-pressure screw unit delivering a 30 percent boost in maximum injection pressure compared with standard specifications.
"Boasting a maximum injection speed of 1,000 millimeters per second, it may well be the fastest injection machine in its size range," the release said.
To demonstrate the machine's capabilities, Suwanee-based Sumitomo will mold electrically conductive pipette tips for capacitive liquid level sensing. The tips will be formulated with a carbon-black enhanced electrically conductive resin from Premix and molded across 64 cavities using a Männer mold.
An MA series robot system that is rated for ISO Class 7 clean rooms will perform several inspection tasks, including ensuring manufacturing tolerances are met and eliminating any defects that may compromise quality.
The demonstration also will feature two HB-Therm temperature control units, a Frigel air-cooled chiller, a mold hot runner system provided by Gammaflux that the release said facilitates faster cycling and sustainable manufacturing with zero plastic waste.
