Thermoforming machinery specialist Brown Machine Group is changing its name to BMG.
The company, founded in 1952, has made a series of acquisitions in recent years and now includes the Lyle Industries, GN Thermoforming, Freeman Co., Nalle Automation Systems and aXatronics brands as well as Brown Machine.
"BMG is our umbrella, and each brand can talk about solutions across the portfolio to fit customer needs," BMG President and CEO Greg Wolf said in a Nov. 4 news release. "Brown Machine Group was already being shortened to BMG both externally and internally, and we believe the change is more inclusive to our family of brands and is easy for our customers to identify and remember."
In conjunction with the name change, BMG has aligned its businesses into three core areas:
• BMG Forming Solutions, which offers Brown, Lyle and GN thermoforming machines.
• BMG Tooling Solutions, which offers forming, trim, form-fill seal and contact heat tooling from Freeman and GN.
• BMG Automation Solutions, which offers NAS and Axatronics robotic material handling and packaging automation.
BMG is owned by San Francisco-based private equity firm Industrial Growth Partners, which bought it from Tenex Capital Management in 2018. Prior to that the company was owned by Spell Capital and known as Thermoforming Technology Group LLC.
