Three contract workers at Formosa Plastics Corp.'s plastics and petrochemicals site in Point Comfort, Texas, have tested positive for COVID-19.
Officials with FPC in Livingston, N.J., said in an April 2 news release that none of the firm's own employees has tested positive.
The Point Comfort site will continue to operate, officials added, since the firm's output has been identified as critical infrastructure by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The contract employees have been isolated by their employer and notifications have been made to others with whom they may have closely interacted, officials added.
"We are working with all of our employees and contractors to ensure appropriate steps are taken to minimize transmission of this illness," they said.
Products made by FPC at Point Comfort include polyethylene, polypropylene and PVC resins. Officials said that these and other materials made at the site "are currently being supplied without interruption."
