Total Corbion PLA has announced major changes to its executive leadership team with the appointmentof Thomas Philipon, as its new CEO and of Chiel Rietvelt, who took on the role of chief financial officer. They succeed Stephane Dion and Geoff Norby, respectively, both of whom had served at Total Corbion PLA since the company’s founding in 2017.
Thomas Philipon brings extensive experience in the plastics industry to his new role, having previously worked at DuPont for more than 15 years. He said he is looking forward to leading Total Corbion PLA through the next stage of growth and to contributing towards "the next chapter in our company’s story."
The new CFO, Rietvelt, has garnered decades of experience in a range of industries and is enthusiastic about this latest challenge.
“The bioplastics industry as a whole is growing at an incredible rate, and to support the company in extending its geographically diversified production capacity is an exciting journey,” he said.
The appointments mark a significant next step in the company’s growth, a growth that includes, in the future, the construction of Europe’s first world-scale poly lactic acid production facility. The new plant, which is planned to be operational in 2024, will be located in Grandpuits, France, and have an annual capacity of 100,000 metric tons.
