Packaging designer and supplier TricorBraun is making two acquisitions, including one firm known for its work in plastics.
St. Louis-based TricorBraun has purchased Zuckerman Honickman Inc. of King of Prussia, Pa., which provides packaging and containers, including both hot-fill and cold-fill plastic bottles.
TricorBraun also acquired Vessel Packaging, a distributor of aluminum cans in Canada.
"Our acquisitions of Zuckerman Honickman, a name synonymous with best-in-class beverage packaging, and Vessel Packaging, a leading Canadian value-added distributor of aluminum cans, bolster our ability to serve beverage customers with expanded offerings and services across North America," TricorBraun CEO Court Carruthers said in a statement.
Zuckerman Honickman, which has been in business for more than 130 years, is a fourth-generation, family-run business.
The company provides plastic packaging in PET, polypropylene, high density polyethylene and low density polyethylene. Zuckerman Honickman also handles glass and aluminum products.
All workers from both companies will remain employed.
"The companies will operate as separate, stand-alone businesses, and the teams will continue to work out of their existing locations," TricorBraun said. They both will retain their names but also be branded as TricorBraun companies.
"For more than a century, customers have relied on Zuckerman Honickman's deep expertise and innovative packaging solutions," said Michael Zuckerman, president of Zuckerman Honickman, in a statement. "We know that TricorBraun shares the same dedication for going above and beyond for customers, and both teams maintain strong customer and supplier relationships. Zuckerman Honickman and TricorBraun's cultures are closely aligned."
TricorBraun "significantly expands its beverage and sustainable packaging expertise" through the Zuckerman Honickman transaction, the company said. The deal also includes Delta Industries, a Zuckerman Honickman subsidiary that distributes reusable trigger sprayers and bottles.
TricorBraun, thanks to more than 30 acquisitions over time, now calls itself North America's largest distributor of primary packaging. The firm now has more than 70 global locations.
It was just about a year ago that a majority of TricorBraun, itself, was sold to private equity firm Ares Management Corp. and the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board. The deal saw previous majority owner AEA Investors as well as management keep a share of the firm.
The two latest deals follows TricorBraun's September purchase of Cormack Packaging of Condell Park, Australia.
Cormack, with manufacturing operations and headquarters in Condell Park, near Sydney, serves both Australia and New Zealand.
