Lincolnwood, Ill.-based Trim-Tex Inc. has acquired Miami-based Plastic Components Inc. to expand its product offering with exterior-grade PVC profiles.
Founded in 1969, Trim-Tex had grown from extruding one kind of vinyl drywall corner bead to manufacturing more than 200 products from a proprietary blend of primarily recycled vinyl materials.
The Plastics Components acquisition, which is the first in Trim-Tex's 56-year history, will bring hundreds more products.
Plastic Components offers almost 700 PVC products, including corner beads, control joints and more for drywall, stucco, exterior insulated finish systems, direct applied finish systems and other applications.
The deal between the two family-owned companies was finalized Feb. 28 but terms were not disclosed.
Trim-Tex President Bryan Schwartz called the acquisition a proud moment for both companies.
"We have immense respect for the Plastic Components team, their expertise, and their commitment to quality. By joining forces, we're not just expanding our product line — we're creating a seamless, one-stop shop for finishing solutions," Schwartz said in a news release.
Trim-Tex Chief Revenue Officer Mike Garcia said it was time to move beyond interior finishing products and expand into exterior applications.
"Our customers have been asking us for years when Trim-Tex will make exterior PVC profiles," Garcia said. "Well, that time is now! This acquisition strengthens Trim-Tex's ability to serve distributors, contractors and industry professionals with a larger portfolio of premium solutions worldwide."
The two companies share mutual respect and collaboration, according to Plastic Components Sales Director Herman Guevara, a 19-year employee .
"The Plastic Components team is excited to join forces with such a reputable, family-owned company as Trim-Tex," Guevara, said. "We've been industry friends for years, often referring customers to one another. This partnership makes perfect sense, and together, we look forward to building the premier global provider of PVC finishing solutions — both interior and exterior."
Also founded in 1969, Plastic Components will retain its name and maintain its manufacturing facility in Medley, Fla., where its team produces exterior-grade PVC profiles and accessories.
The acquisition is "more than just a business deal," according to Trim-Tex CEO Joe Koenig, Jr., who described it as "the union of two family-run companies that share the same values and vision."
"Plastic Components has built an incredible legacy over the past 56 years, and we are honored to help carry that forward," Koenig Jr. said. "Together, we will continue providing the highest quality products, made in the USA, while ensuring long-term stability and opportunities for our employees."
With estimated sales of $50 million, Trim-Tex ranks 71st among North American pipe, profile and tubing extruders, according to Plastics News' latest ranking.
