TriMas Corp. has opened a 225,000-square-foot packaging plant in Haining, China, that includes injection molding, assembly and a clean room.
The TriMas Packaging plant replaces two older facilities in Hangzhou, China, and Haining. The Bloomfield Hills, Mich., company said the new facility has advanced capabilities to better serve customers across China and other Asian markets.
"With this addition, we are proud to now have advanced flagship locations in the United States, Mexico and China, strategically positioning us for continued growth across these key regions," President and CEO Thomas Amato said in a Nov. 25 news release.
The Haining facility manufactures dispensing and airless lotion pumps, foaming pumps, caps and closures, primarily for the beauty and personal care markets. It also produces e-commerce lotion pumps.
TriMas announced plans for the China facility in 2023, when it also announced that it was closing a leased facility in Rohnert Park, Calif.
TriMas Packaging is one of three divisions at publicly traded TriMas Corp. Other segments are in aerospace and specialty products, including engines and steel cylinders.
TriMas Packaging was No. 36 in the most recent Plastics News ranking of North American injection molders, with estimated molding sales in the region of $300 million.
