Plastic tube maker EPL America LLC will spend millions to expand the company's existing facility in Danville, Va., a project that will create two dozen jobs.
The $37.4 million project includes building upgrades at the 200,000-square-foot location as well as the addition of new machinery, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin's office said.
The additional equipment "will allow it to grow into the beauty and cosmetics markets and serve customers interested in replacing plastic products with laminate tubes," the office said.
"This will strengthen our long-term commitment to the City of Danville and the Commonwealth of Virginia and help us become a bigger economic benefactor in the community," said Mauro Catopodis, president of EPL Ltd. Americas Region, in a statement.
Catopodis indicated his company has 315 workers in Danville and 3,700 globally. The company has been in Danville since 2002.
"EPL has been an integral part of Danville's thriving manufacturing sector for over two decades, continually innovating through modernization of technology, processes, and equipment to ensure ongoing success for their workforce in the years ahead," said Linda Green, executive director of the Southern Virginia Regional Alliance, in a statement.
EPL America is a subsidiary of EPL Group, which operates 21 manufacturing sites on five continents. The company was formerly known as Essel Propack Ltd. and is owned by investment firm Blackstone Group.
Blackstone purchased a majority stake in EPL, the world's largest tube packaging maker, in 2019.
