Tecumseh, Mich. — Blow molding machine builder Uniloy Inc. launched sales of a new all-electric continuous extrusion shuttle machine to produce bottles, containers and technical parts
The UCS.E is a third generation product line for Uniloy, which has focused on the process since its acquisitions of Italian legacy brand Comec in 1985 followed by German legacy brand B&W in 1995.
Uniloy's product development team used the foundations of those two brands to develop the UCS.E, which a news release says is the most advanced Uniloy shuttle machine to date.
The UCS.E produces bottles, containers, and technical parts as small as 1.69 ounces (950 milliliters) and as large as 7.9 gallons (30 liters) for manufacturing everything from small cosmetic containers to large industrial packaging.
The machine also has a co-extrusion capability for up to seven layers including bio- and post-consumer resins.
In addition, the UCS.E uses 40 percent less energy than a traditional hydraulic shuttle machine and it's significantly quieter and cleaner. The removal of hydraulic fluids allows the UCS.E to be used in clean room and aseptic manufacturing environments.
Connectivity and data also were at the forefront of developing the third iteration. The UCS.E line is Industry 4.0 ready, allows data exchange with our customer's factory management systems and will be able to handle future developments like preventative maintenance programs.
The touchscreen was redesigned, too, by the Uniloy software engineering team. The company says the new controls are user-friendly, intuitive and allow a speedier machine setup and numerous customizations.
For maintenance and servicing, the UCS.E design also allows easy access to all areas needed.
