A strapping company will spend almost $35 million to create a second manufacturing location in Lancaster, S.C.
U.S. Strapping Co. Inc., a unit of Fromm Holding AG of Steinhausen, Switzerland, will create 63 new jobs through the project, according to the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
"Lancaster, S.C. is an ideal location for us to further expand and invest in our operations in the USA. The expansion strategy will help us to meet our increasing customers' demands now and in the future," Fromm CEO Matthias Schwarzenbach said in a statement.
A newly purchased building in Lancaster will become the company's second location in Lancaster County. The facility "will allow the company to significantly increase its [PET] strap manufacturing capacity" and provide room for distribution, the state said.
Work on the new building is expected to be completed in about a year. The company already has an existing location in Lancaster located about 1 mile from the new site.
"It's another golden day in Lancaster County with Fromm Group's expansion of their Lancaster manufacturing operations. We couldn't be more excited to see this project come to fruition and the business activity it will be bring to a strategically important industrial location," said James Gilbert, executive director of the Lancaster County Department of Economic Development, in a statement.
