Corry, Pa. — Viking Plastics has named a new leader, someone already familiar with the company.
Shawn Gross, currently president of the Corry-based injection molder, will take over as CEO and chairman Nov. 1. Kelly Goodsel, who has spent 24 years with Viking, will remain in the top job until the end of October when he becomes a "trusted advisor and business ambassador."
Viking was acquired by private equity's Hoffmann Family of Cos. in August from Spell Capital Partners LLC, which had owned by business since 2016.
"Shawn's extensive plastics expertise, intensive focus on quality and unwavering commitment to driving a culture of continuous improvement will take the company to new heights," Geoff Hoffmann, co-CEO of HF said in a news release.
Goodsel steps down after seeing years of growth for the molder and mold maker.
"Kelly's tremendous efforts guided the company through the 2008-2009 recession, the challenges of COVID, ownership transitions, and both domestic and international expansions through acquisitions," Gross said.
Viking Plastics operates more than 50 injection molding machines and multiple automated assembly cells across U.S. manufacturing facilities in Kentucky, Indiana and Pennsylvania.
