Vonco Products LLC is buying Flex-Pak Packaging Products Inc., a maker of flexible barrier packaging and sterile barrier pouches.
Flex-Pak, of Batavia, Ill., provides packaging for consumer and health care applications.
The purchase by Trevor, Wis.-based Vonco follows an August 2020 deal for McFarlane Medical Inc., of Geneva, Ill., a contract manufacturer of medical devices.
"This acquisition puts Vonco in a very unique space of providing risk-free turnkey contract manufacturing of devices, packaging and sterilization management, streamlining the supply chain for our customers," Vonco CEO Keith Smith said in a statement.
An important component of the acquisition is Flex-Pak's use of medical grade DuPont Tyvek to make health care packaging. Tyvek was mentioned by both Smith and Flex-Pak President William Reimann in the acquisition announcement.
"Many flexible pouches used in health care are made with medical grade DuPont Tyvek. This acquisition supports our mission statement that we care more, by making it possible for Vonco to provide the highest-level of barrier, and sterile barrier protection for our customers," Smith said.
Products offered by Flex-Pak include medical packaging, standup spouted pouches, consumer and retail packaging, industrial packaging and custom packaging. This includes plain and printed rollstock, fitment installation, toll printing and pouching and custom design work, the company said.
"At Flex-Pak, we've always placed great value on coupling innovation with excellent customer service, We're excited to select an innovative company like Vonco to add our barrier solutions and DuPont Tyvek pouches to their impressive line of contract manufacturing services," Reimann said.
Along with Tyvek, Flex-Pak uses foil, polyester, metalized polyester, paper polypropylene foil and nylon laminates. The company also offers polypropylene, peelable materials and specialty films by request, the company said on its website.
