Exton, Pa.-based West Pharmaceutical Services Inc. is investing $70 million to expand its manufacturing facility in Kinston, N.C., to help meet growing health care demand including packaging and drug delivery.
"This expansion … will enable us to add a variety of additional manufacturing equipment used to produce the packaging and drug delivery components patients rely on to contain and deliver their life-saving and life-changing medicines," Eric Haman, director of global corporate communications at West Pharma, said in an email to Plastics News.
The expansion, which will add 70 new jobs to the Kinston area, also includes warehouse space, gowning rooms, and a new cafeteria "to better support our growing number of team members at that site," Haman said.
"We are pleased to continue our growth in Kinston, which will help support our mission of improving patient lives around the globe," Mike Fischer, site director at the Kinston facility said in a Feb. 1 news release. "I'm proud of our team members and the work they do every day."
West Pharma has more than 10,000 employees across 50 global sites. The company annually manufactures over 40 billion medical components and devices, including prefillable syringes, vials, stoppers, seals and plungers.
