Mold Craft, a micromolder owned by Westfall Technik Inc., has added an MS micromolding injection press from Mold Hotrunner Solutions — which also is a Westfall company.
The press will go at Mold Craft's technical center at its headquarters in Willernie, Minn., a suburb of St. Paul.
The M3 can from MHT produces small, direct-gated plastic parts on a large scale, Westfall Technik said. Direct gating means no wasted cold runners, which is a major savings with micromolding, which often processes high-priced plastics like bioabsorbables or PEEK.
The MS molding cell is electro-pneumatic, delivering both high-volume and low-volume production of parts that require extreme, precision, quality, speed and flexibility, the company said.
Westfall Technik, a global holding company that is on a buying streak in the plastics industry, acquired MHS in late 2018. Westfall bought Mold Craft this January, then two months later bought another micromolder, Micro Tech Southwest Inc. in Tempe. Ariz.
Westfall Technik is based in Las Vegas.
