Allison Lin has joined consumer goods giant Mars Inc. as global vice president of sustainable packaging.
Lin had been with Las Vegas-based injection molder and toolmaker Westfall Technik Inc. since 2019, most recently as senior vice president of sustainability and market development.
"I loved my time at Westfall Technik and learned a lot about the inner workings of a different side of the supply network, but am extremely excited today to start a new chapter on my sustainability career journey at Mars," she said in a Sept. 14 LinkedIn post.
"Thank you to my Westfall family for the amazing experience, and I look forward to continuing the necessary work to drive more sustainable solutions throughout the industry with an incredible team at Mars," Lin added.
McLean, Va.-based Mars makes a wide range of food, petcare and other consumer items. The firm's brands include Snickers, Skittles, Twix and Pedigree. Mars posted sales of $37 billion in 2020.
Prior to Westfall Technik, Lin held packaging-related roles at consumer giants Procter & Gamble Co., Starbucks Corp. and Coca-Cola Co. She also serves as vice chair of the recycling committee for the Plastics Industry Association.
In an interview with Plastics News earlier this year, Lin said she joined Procter & Gamble in 2005 after working on Wall Street for a year.
"Luckily, Procter & Gamble recruited at my university, and I joined the company and eventually was offered the dream job of developing strategies for sustainable plastics across their packaging space," Lin said. "This was way before anyone was really talking about sustainability, but I loved it and have stayed in the industry since."
