An Ohio home improvements company is buying plastic window and patio door maker in its second acquisition within 18 months.
Great Day Improvements LLC in Macedonia is buying Apex Energy Solutions, which uses what it terms a "proprietary resin" for its windows and doors, sold under the Patio Enclosures and Stanek Windows brand names.
Apex is based in Zionsville, Ind.
Great Day has been looking to expand in the replacement-window market. The geographical footprint is "complementary," President and CEO Michael Hoy said in a news release. The release also noted the acquisition will "diversify the volume of business through the company's direct-to-consumer model."
In May 2019, Great Day acquired Florida-based Hartshorn Custom Contracting Inc. in May 2019.
Terms of the Apex deal were not shared in the release, and a message for the company was not returned as of publication.
"We continue to seek acquisition opportunities in the direct-to-consumer building products and home improvement services sector as part of our 'Strategic Transactions' initiative," Great Day chairman Ed Weinfurtner said in the release. "Businesses that can be additive in terms of people, products, capabilities, and new geographic markets are highly desired. Apex Energy Solutions is a great example of the kind of business that fits with the long-term goals of our organization."
