Wittmann Group, the Vienna-based auxiliary equipment and injection molding maker has acquired FarragTech GmbH, an Austrian maker of products using compressed air for resin drying and mold cooling.
Wittmann announced Jan. 31 that it has taken over FarragTech in Wolfurt. Terms were not released.
According to Wittmann, FarragTech invented both methods of using compressed air. The compressed air cooling system is designed for blow molds.
Another FarragTech product, mold area protection, directs ambient air through a water-cooled heat exchanger and a refrigerated circuit to chill the air and remove condensation moisture from cooled molds.
FarragTech products and employees are being integrated into the Wittmann Group structure, the company said. Plans call for the products to be linked to Wittmann 4.0.
The company's previous owner, Aaron Farrag, is taking over the compressed air drying and cooling segment as product manager.
"With the small-quantity dryers from FarragTech, we are closing a gap in our product portfolio," said Wittmann Group Managing Director Michael Wittmann.
