Austrian plastics machinery manufacturer Wittmann Group has announced that it will not exhibit at Fakuma 2020 in Friedrichshafen, Germany, this year, even if the show set for Oct. 13-17 goes on as scheduled.
Company managers said in a statement posted on its website that the decision not to participate "in the event of a Fakuma 2020 trade fair actually being held," was the result of ongoing uncertainty as to how a trade show booth could be set up and run in compliance with the necessary safety measures needed to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
The decision was not an easy one, Wittmann officials stressed, but, as it said in the statement: “Since, as is generally known, large gatherings of people in particular are an ideal breeding ground for a renewed outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, the Wittmann Group would rather not expose its associates and visitors to such an incalculable health risk.”
“Fakuma normally constitutes a top-class trade fair event offering both exhibitors and visitors an excellent platform for introducing and/or exploring new technologies and products. The numerous product presentations we had planned for this year's Fakuma will now be shown in due course in virtual presentations.”
