Distribution firm Palmer Holland is working with industrial hemp supplier Ind Hemp LLC to provide sustainable materials.
Palmer Holland of Westlake, Ohio, will be the exclusive supplier of Ind Hemp's industrial hemp additives for compounding in the U.S. and Canada, officials said in a news release.
Ind Hemp is based in Fort Benton, Mont. The firm is a family-owned business producing a variety of industrial hemp additives. Officials said Ind Hemp connects American farmers to industry through sustainable products and materials.
In the release, Palmer Holland officials said that sustainability "continues to be a major focal point, particularly in the automotive, composite and plastic industries." They added that industrial hemp is "a carbon-negative specialty filler that's of specific interest as manufacturers look for ways to reduce carbon emissions and create sustainable solutions."
Industrial hemp provides light weighting, strength, and rigidity and is used as a reinforcement in bio-composites and plastics. Palmer Holland "has seen an expressed interest in this field from its customers," officials said.
Palmer Holland's plastics line includes additives for PVC, polypropylene and other resins and end products, as well as elastomers. The firm sells plastics-related materials from 32 suppliers, including 3M, Arkema, Baerlocher, ExxonMobil and Lanxess.
Other end markets served by Palmer Holland include adhesives/sealants, agriculture, elastomers, health/nutrition, industrial lubricants and paints/coatings.
