Employees of Avient Corp. have been active in community projects with the United Way.
On Sept. 28, a group of employees with Avon Lake, Ohio-based Avient built and installed 15 Little Free Library book exchanges throughout Lorain County. The Little Free Library program encourages individuals and families to take a book and leave a book, officials with United Way of Greater Lorain County said in a news release.
Brian Hoar, Avient corporate quality senior manager, is serving as Avient's 2023 United Way campaign chair. He helped coordinate the book project along with senior product specialist Nanette Wiedl.
"At Avient, we believe that our commitment to community impact is not just a responsibility but a reflection of our core values," Hoar said in the release. "We are proud to partner with United Way every year in our efforts and applaud the many other local employers and individuals who do as well."
Ryan Aroney, United Way of Greater Lorain County president and CEO, added that the project "was a fun way for us to engage our partners from Avient in a meaningful way that helps students and families across the county."
Avient also raised more than $1.4 million in donations during its 2023 United Way campaign, according to a recent LinkedIn post from talent acquisition senior manager Brian Moran. Since 2007, the firm has raised more than $20 million at United Way chapters throughout North America.
Avient is one of North America's largest producers of compounds, concentrates, composites and protective fibers. The firm posted sales of $3.4 billion in 2022.
