Northeast Ohio-based employees of materials firm Lubrizol Corp. recently gave back to their communities.
Lubrizol of Wickliffe, Ohio sponsored its annual Building Global Bonds day on June 28. Employees throughout the region worked on multiple community projects. In addition to Wickliffe, Lubrizol has nearby operations in Brecksville, Painesville and Avon Lake. More than 300 company volunteers took part in efforts including making fleece blankets, landscaping, cleaning, painting and carpentry.
"Thank you to the hundreds of Lubrizol ... employees who showed up like we do to volunteer for our annual Building Global Bonds day of community service," Chief Sustainability Officer Elizabeth Groves said in a LinkedIn post. "Resilience, giving back and caring for our communities are all elements in the chemistry of our extraordinary team."
Groves told Plastics News that other global Lubrizol locations are doing Building Global Bonds day on different dates. The firm's operations in Singapore also did community work on June 28. Employees also are working with the American Red Cross MapSwipe program, an online effort to improve local maps for safety services.
Lubrizol's Building Global Bonds day has been in place for about 20 years. Groves said the firm has set a goal of totaling 80,000 volunteer hours by its 100th anniversary in 2028.
Lubrizol employs almost 9,000 at more than 100 locations worldwide. The firm's Advanced Materials unit is a leading global supplier of thermoplastic polyurethane.
