Materials distributors Nexeo Plastics and Osterman & Co. are giving their customers more selections as an early Christmas present.
Houston-based Nexeo has grown its material offerings from Teknor Apex Co. across the Europe/Middle East/Africa region. In a news release, officials with both firms said the expansion strengthens their global partnership and also strengthens Nexeo's ability to provide customers engineered solutions to meet industry needs.
Teknor materials now available from Nexeo in the EMEA region include Creamid and Chemlon nylons, Crealen specialty polypropylene compounds, Createc PBT, Creablend specialty blends based on polycarbonate, ABS and other resins and Desmoflex TPU compounds.
In a news release, Teknor EU commercial director Jan Duyfjes said Teknor and Nexeo "complement each other well with our highly customer-centric approach and similar broad customer base and market coverage."
Nexeo EMEA vice president Joost d'Hooge added the agreement "will provide our customers with an even larger portfolio of Teknor Apex's high-quality materials … for a number of end markets, including the continually evolving electrical/electronics, industrial and mobility markets."
Nexeo distributes resins and compounds in North America, Europe and Asia for more than 30 suppliers. The firm has annual sales estimated at around $2 billion.
Teknor is a global materials firm that ranks as one of North America's 30 largest compounders and concentrate makers. The firm operates 13 plants worldwide, with annual sales of more than $1 billion. Teknor products include PVC compounds, thermoplastic elastomers and engineering resin compounds, as well as garden hoses.
At Osterman in Cheshire, Conn., the firm now offers engineering resins made by Swiss materials firm Ems-Chemie for customers in North America. Those materials include nylons sold under the Grivory, Grilamid and Grilon trade names.
The agreement also includes GreenLine, Ems-Chemie's bio-based specialty nylons. Greenline materials are derived from castor oil, a renewable resource from non-food crops.
Ems-Chemie segment leader Hussain Bukhari said the partnership "aligns well with our strengths and growth targets in North America…We look forward to a successful and long-term collaboration with Osterman."
Osterman engineered polymers vice president Jim Harris added the addition "will enhance the portfolio of high-performance materials that our specialized ETP commercial team provides to processors and OEMs."
Osterman distributes more than 1 billion pounds of resin and compounds each year from more than 20 suppliers and from its own brand of generic prime resins.
