Four plastics-related firms have been named among Northeast Ohio's top workplaces for 2024 by The Plain Dealer newspaper and news website Cleveland.com.
Palmer Holland, Vitamix Corp., Garland Co. and Mum Industries all were recognized in rankings announced June 23.
Olmsted Township-based Vitamix — a maker of blenders and kitchen appliances — came in at No. 9 in the ranking of large companies. The firm employs more than 700 in the area.
Materials distributor Palmer Holland of Westlake placed 21st in the mid-size business category. The firm employs 225 in the area. Palmer Holland's plastics line includes additives for PVC, polypropylene and other resins and end products, as well as elastomers. The firm sells plastics-related materials from 32 suppliers.
Garland Co. of Cleveland placed 50th in the small business category. The firm employs more than 140 in the area and makes a range of construction products, including some based on epoxies, polyurethane and silicone.
Mum Industries of Mentor was at 121 in the small business category. The firm employs 90 in the area. Mum's Integra Enclosures unit makes enclosures from both polycarbonate and metal.
The ranking was based on employee surveys conducted by consulting firm Energage of Exton, Pa.
