Longtime resin executive Greg DeKunder is back on the job at Nova Chemicals less than a year after being diagnosed with colon cancer.
DeKunder, polyethylene marketing vice president for Calgary-based Nova, said in a July 26 LinkedIn post that after a routine colonoscopy, he was diagnosed with a Stage 3 colon tumor on Dec. 23.
"I am back at work today cancer-free and finished with my treatments," DeKunder said. "I am full of energy to continue our work at Nova to shape a world where tomorrow is even better than today."
In addition to the surgeons, doctors, nurses, family and friends who helped him, DeKunder thanked his colleagues at Nova.
"I received tremendous support from Nova," he said. "My colleagues gave me the encouragement to work when I had the energy, and they also gave me space when I needed to focus on my healing."
DeKunder joined Nova in 2018 after almost 26 years with Total Petrochemicals. Nova is a major North American supplier of PE resin and related materials
