Materials maker Techmer PM has received a silver medal in the EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment.
In a news release, officials with Techmer in Clinton, Tenn., said the recognition reaffirms their company's sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and ethical business practices.
EcoVadis is an independent rating agency that assesses environmental, social and ethical performance across various industries worldwide. The assessment covers a range of criteria, including environmental impact, labor and human rights, fair business practices, and sustainable procurement.
Techmer's silver medal places the company among the top 25 percent of organizations evaluated by EcoVadis.
"We remain steadfast in our pursuit of innovative, sustainable solutions that address our customers' evolving needs and contribute to a more sustainable future for all," Techmer CEO Michael McHenry said in the release.
Officials added that the EcoVadis rating reinforces Techmer PM's dedication to minimizing its environmental footprint, focusing on workforce safety and development, and promoting sustainable solutions throughout its value chain.
"We have implemented numerous initiatives to conserve water and energy, optimize waste management and enhance recycling practices," said Kaan Serpersu, Techmer's product development and sustainability manager.
Techmer's U.S. plants are in Clinton; Rancho Dominguez, Calif.; Wichita, Kan.; Dalton, Ga.; New Castle, Del.; and Batavia, Ill. Its Mexican plant is in Querétaro. The firm employs more than 600 worldwide.
Since 2014, Techmer has been named to the Plastics News Best Places to Work list six times, most recently in 2021. The firm is one of North America's 30 largest compounders and concentrate makers, according to PN data.
