Techmer PM has become the first materials supplier to the Composites Additive Manufacturing and Simulation (CAMS) Consortium at Purdue University.
In a news release, officials with Techmer in Clinton, Tenn., said that the partnership "marks a significant milestone in the industry, bringing a new era of collaborative efforts for advancing understanding and confidence on large format additive manufacturing (LFAM)."
The Composites Manufacturing and Simulation Center at West Lafayette, Ind.-based Purdue is known for its expertise in manufacturing, simulation and characterization of composite materials, officials added. They added the partnership will foster innovation by bringing together researchers, industry leaders and academic institutions.
"We are honored to join Purdue University's CAMS Consortium and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in materials science and additive manufacturing," CEO Mike McHenry said. "The value this partnership will bring to our customers is significant. We aim to continue driving transformative changes in serving our customers."
Techmer's portfolio includes a wide range of high-performance materials. Officials said that by joining CAMS, Techmer aims to leverage collective expertise, like Purdue University's Additive 3D simulation.
Additive 3D simulation data "provides a remarkable baseline and offers the ability to make accurate machine-specific material cards," according to Techmer additive manufacturing business development manager Jenna Hunt.
Techmer ranks as one of North America's 30 largest compounders and concentrate makers. Since 2014, Techmer has been named to the Plastics News Best Places to Work list six times, most recently in 2021.
