Düsseldorf, Germany — Under new direction and after a lot of changes in the past year, OMV Technologies Inc. was at K 2022 to remind customers that it is tackling things in a new way.
"We want to let people know that innovation is a big focus for us, servicing our customers is a huge focus for us, as well as sustainability," President Brooke Maltun said.
Royal Palm Beach, Fla.-based MalStra LLC acquired the Verona, Italy-based thermoforming and extrusion machinery company in November 2021. The new owners are packaging industry veterans Maltun and Mark Strachan. Since then, OMV's headquarters moved to Florida, and manufacturing recently moved into a new facility in Verona.
OMV produces turnkey systems for thermoforming and extrusion, and at K 2022 officials discussed how they are helping customers incorporate post-consumer materials into their products.
In order to be as sustainable as possible, OMV is also working on helping to minimize part weight and scrap. "We design parts for sustainability. What that means is most people want to use as little plastic as possible in a product to be functional," said CEO Strachan.
OMV has been working with multinational brand owners to help develop monomaterial packaging that can replace multilayer structures.
