In our first politics livestream of the new year, we’ll look at a policy change for the Plastics Industry Association, which now says it’s OK with some bottle bills and extended producer responsibility laws. We can talk about what that does and does not mean. Chemical recycling remains a hot topic, with Congress passing a federal budget at the end of the year that included a victory for environmentalists, while on the opposite side, Michigan passed chemical recycling legislation the plastics industry liked. As well, the Federal Trade Commission is planning for new rules around environmental marketing, including for plastics.
