Focus on efficiency: The new KraussMaffei Extrusion plant

The future of recycling and extrusion technology is being developed in Laatzen, Lower Saxony (Germany). In its new, modern plant, KraussMaffei is not only developing new solutions for the plastics and rubber industry, but also setting new standards for more efficient and sustainable manufacturing processes.

The new Smart Factory impresses with consistently networked production, data processing in real time, process visualization and data evaluation. The use of state-of-the-art machine tools significantly increases efficiency in production. Manufacturing times for extrusion components are simultaneously reduced, so that customers will benefit from shorter delivery times. 

Solar panels on the roofs and a thermal recovery system underline the new location’s resource-aware approach to energy consumption, as well as LED lightening in all areas, charging stations for electric vehicles and extractor systems which remove particulates and aerosols that are produced during manufacturing.

All extrusion technologies are combined under one roof: From pipe and profile extrusion through sheet and flat film extrusion to rubber and foam extrusion as well as compounding and recycling technologies – in Laatzen, customers find the right solution for their production.

This can be experienced in the new Customer Experience Center. It gives our customers and partners the opportunity to experience the diverse KraussMaffei technological solutions and applications first hand. The centerpiece here is the Innovation Center for technical trials performed within the frame of customer-specific projects. Demanding and complex extrusion applications can be tested here on up to 26 lines - from small laboratory facilities up to production-scale machines - under realistic production conditions. In addition, a modern laboratory is available which can deliver test results for customer trials in just a few hours. In this way, KraussMaffei can develop innovative solutions together with its customers even more easily and quickly – for an efficient and sustainable production.
