LS Mtron Injection Molding Machines USA has announced it has formed a partnership with Orbital Plastics Consulting to provide scientific injection molding training. These hands-on courses are taught by President of Orbital Plastics Consulting Umberto Catignani. Training will take place at LS Mtron’s Technical Center in Wood Dale, Illinois (near Chicago) and is open to all molders, regardless of their machine supplier.

Orbital has recently moved its test molds to LS Mtron’s Technical Center in Wood Dale.
“LS MTron’s facilities and equipment are second to none, and we are happy to be partnering with them,” Catignani said. “This partnership further advances the need in the industry to provide this much-needed world class training for plastic professionals in the injection molding arena.”
Courses being offered include both injection molding training at LS Mtron’s Technical Center and onsite injection molding training at LS Mtron customer locations.
Peter Gardner, business director of LS Mtron USA, said that the LS Mtron sales team is offering Orbital’s training as part of new machine sales. All new LS Mtron machine sales in 2022 are eligible to register for a free seat at one of the upcoming Wood Dale seminars, which include:
• Thermoplastic Part Design, Part Defects & Scientific Injection Molding: September 13 – 14.
• Courses for Fundamentals of Scientific Injection Molding: Hands-on, Setup, Processing, & Troubleshooting: December 12-14
“In addition, we are offering Orbital’s in-house training to our customers as a supplemental option on new machine sales,” said Gardner. “This onsite training is attractive as we can come to the customers’ factories, use their molds, and train a larger number of people. New hires are hard to come by for our customers, and it’s more important than ever that their machine operators develop their skills and be trained on best practices for scientific molding.”
The option for in-house scientific molding training at the customer’s site can be included in the machine purchase price, said Gardner.
Catignani stressed that training has become more important than ever with the continued labor shortage.
“It is important to offer employees the opportunity for workforce development by improving their skills,” he said. “At times, training can take a ‘backseat’ to other expenditures but the most effective way to reduce scrap rates, cycle times, setup times and downtime is to provide the necessary skills to the personnel that have the greatest effect on these key operational parameters.”
