Fulvio Menconi said that besides Monterrey, there are many plastics processors in the Queretaro area.
LS Mtron Injection Molding Machine has announced it has opened a new Business Unit in Mexico. LS IMM Mexico is based in Monterrey and is led by plastics industry veterans, Kevin Kim, and Fulvio Menconi.
Kim is CEO of LS IMM Mexico. He has worked for hot runner system and auxiliary equipment supplier YUDO-ABIMAN for 12 years, most recently as CEO & General Manager in Mexico. Fulvio Menconi, who is President-Sales for LS IMM Mexico, has worked for several injection molding machine suppliers in Mexico including Husky, Engel, and Krauss-Maffei, in business and sales management roles.
The new business unit’s headquarters are in Monterrey, where the company has a Tech Center with 4 LS Mtron IMM’s ranging from 170-450 tons. Customer training and trials will be held in Monterey, spare parts will also be stocked in the facility, and service assistance will be available in Spanish. A sales and service office will also be opened soon in Queretaro to service customers in that part of the country.
LS Mtron’s USA business unit will work closely with LS IMM Mexico, said Peter Gardner, President of LS IMM USA. “Our company’s blueprint for growth and success has worked extremely well in the USA, and we will help our partners in Mexico so they can achieve the same success,” he said. Gardner said that LS IMM USA and Mexico will have the same service and support contact information and will share service technicians as necessary.
“We have several large customers in the USA who have plants in Mexico,” said Paul Caprio, LS IMM USA President of Sales. “They now will have the best of both worlds, with direct LS support available in both countries.”
Kevin Kim said that LS chose Monterrey as its headquarters in Mexico for two main reasons: the large number of plastics processors in the region, and the presence of several LS molding facilities there, including LS Appliance. “There are over 1,000 LS injection molding machines currently running in Mexico,” he said. “Many of them are in state-of-the-art LS factories. It’s a big advantage for us to show prospective customers these facilities, so they can see our machines in operation.”
Fulvio Menconi said that besides Monterrey, there are many plastics processors in the Queretaro area. “Queretaro is centrally located in Mexico and has a large plastics processing and moldmaking community,” he said. “It is a great location for us and a logical place for our satellite office.”
LS already has direct service technicians in Mexico, said Kim, and will be hiring additional well-trained technicians for service and sales roles to capture more business from the local market. “We have aggressive plans to grow our market share in Mexico,” he said. “Molders in Mexico and the USA have similar issues; they all want good pricing and fast deliveries. LS can provide that, and more.” “We are confident that we will build our customer base in Mexico,” said Fulvio Menconi. “With this announcement, LS is showing the Mexican market that it will be getting direct sales, service and support from one of the leading injection molding machine suppliers in the world.”
