With machine technician availability and expertise diminishing by the day, Milacron finds it valuable to teach their customers how to fish versus fishing for them when it comes to machine operations and troubleshooting. From onsite training that combines hands-on experience with a customer’s own machinery, to offsite classroom-based training at its global headquarters in Ohio, Milacron is committed to teaching its customers how to operate their machine technologies and even become subject matter experts who can take ownership of machine operations.
Milacron’s Technical Training Specialist, Jeffrey DePuy, says the OEM receives more onsite processing training requests at customers’ facilities, citing that this alternative provides a custom opportunity to proactively solve real-world issues in a low-pressure environment, within a familiar setting. “Many of our processing customers have preferred to have our Milacron instructor teach the class at their location and on their machine.”
Zero Tolerance, a Milacron customer and injection mold machine shop out of Michigan, has benefitted from the Milacron training solution. The adjustments General Manager, Murphy Forsyth, has been able to make on her Roboshot all-electric injection molding machines since taking the Milacron training course has increased cycle time on average 8-10 seconds, which in turn allowed her to run 25 percent more parts per shift, as well as finish orders more efficiently and effectively.
“In our Roboshot Processing II, Process Optimization & Troubleshooting course, I learned about mold cooling and the adjustments you can make to your process to help save on cycle time,” she said. “With the knowledge the instructor shared with the class, I was able to apply it to our production mold process when I returned from training. The improvements have allowed us to have open machine time to take on other work.”
Forsyth said the Milacron training course paid for itself in one day’s time at her shop. “I highly recommend this training to every single processor with a Roboshot injection molding machine.”
Milacron’s standard preventive maintenance and operation seminars teach techniques for efficient troubleshooting and repair on specific Milacron machine models. In addition, Milacron’s process training helps increase productivity as well as profits for processors with solutions available on tooling, machine setup and processing, and troubleshooting.
As the critical skilled workforce knowledge continues to transition, the need to train new personnel in all facets of the manufacturing process becomes even more essential. Milacron training courses address the most common needs of shop employees, and the topics are applicable across various machine product lines.
