Bag making
A New York plastic bag maker that had been part of legal challenges to the state's bag ban is closing its factory there and laying off 146 workers, according to state filings.
The deal involves CMD Corp. and FAS Converting Machinery AB.
Alleged failure of a plastic bag is at the center of a wrongful-death lawsuit against America's largest plastic bag maker and the country's largest retailer: Hilex Poly Co. LLC and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
