Demag Plastics Machinery (Ningbo) Co. Ltd.., delivered its 100th injection molding machine in the second quarter of this year — to Rosti Group's plant in China.
After rocketing up coming out of the Great Recession of 2008-2009, U.S. press shipments have settled into several years of about 5 percent growth. Growth in 2017 may slow to just a few percentage points, but it could be higher depending on gross domestic product, industry officials think.
UPDATED — Gerd Liebig, the former head marketing manager of Engel Holding GmbH, has been appointed managing director-chief sales officer at Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery GmbH — marking his return to the Demag injection molding machinery business based in Schwaig, Germany. Starting April 1 — after NPE 2015 — Liebig will take over the full responsibility of all worldwide sales, after sales and marketing activities of the business.
In 1990, the year after Plastics News published our first issue, there were 33,000 injection molding machines sold worldwide. Fast forward to 2013, and the global market was 86,500 molding machines, or a jump of 250 percent.

Germany's Demag Plastics Machinery (Ningbo) Co. Ltd. plans to invest at least 7 million euros ($9.35 million) in a significant expansion of its injection press factory in China.
