Demand picked up during the second half of 2024, but it's expected to stall again before accelerating later in 2025.
Some machinery companies are seeing signs of a recovery. That doesn't necessarily mean there's a sudden burst of sales, but rather it indicates that booked business for 2025 is stronger, especially when compared with sluggish activity in late 2023 and into 2024.
Automation is one facet of injection molding where investment continues. "The industry is seeing a downward trend for new molding machines, but robots and automation remain strong as processors still battle labor issues and staying competitive," said Jason Long, vice president of sales at Wittmann USA.
Linda Campbell, vice president of sales for Entek Manufacturing Inc.: "If we can see interest rates continue to decline, we expect to see a much stronger 2025 than 2024."
